Property Accountant required in Midrand, Johannesburg.
A leading property investment and development organisation is looking for a Property Accountant to join its finance team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the financial administration and accounting of a portfolio of properties, supporting the Financial Manager and Financial Controller in maintaining accurate financial records, reporting and controls.
Salary: R40 000 CTC - R47 000 per month.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor cash flow and coordinate internal banking transfers.
- Prepare bank and general ledger reconciliations.
- Process and release invoices, including VAT payments.
- Manage purchase orders and supplier payment processes.
- Maintain supplier relationships and prepare supplier reconciliations.
- Capture and allocate invoices and property-related costs accurately.
- Ensure tenant income is accurately and timeously recorded.
- Assist with budgeting, cost control and monthly rolling forecasts.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
- Perform utility reconciliations and provide variance explanations.
- Assist with external audits and resolve audit queries.
- Manage the VAT function, including monthly VAT calculations, VAT
201 returns and submissions to SARS. - Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, internal policies and financial controls.
- Assist with resolving SARS queries and implementing audit recommendations.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Accounting Sciences.
- NQF Level 6/7.
- 2-3 years' experience in a similar accounting role.
- Previous property accounting experience will be highly advantageous.
- Experience with in the property and/or construction industry will be advantageous.
- Strong computer literacy and accounting package proficiency.
- Good financial and business acumen.
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
- Strong sense of accountability, integrity and collaboration.
The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented and financially astute individual who can work independently, manage deadlines and adapt between different accounting and administrative priorities.
