About the RoleWe seek an exceptional Physics and Chemistry Teacher to lead senior‑grade instruction in 2026. Resident teachers drive a rigorous, enquiry‑based environment, supported by Deans of Instruction who observe lessons, provide feedback, and coach. Teachers also mentor apprentices and participate in professional growth activities.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver enquiry‑based Physics and Chemistry lessons aligned with the Cambridge curriculum.
- Prepare students to sit IGCSE exams.
- Use technology to enhance lessons.
- Infuse joy and passion for learning into lessons.
- Set ambitious goals and provide feedback to help students internalise progress.
- Conduct ongoing assessment and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Attend weekly feedback meetings with Deans and learning designers.
- Participate in daily team meetings, reflections, professional development sessions, and organisational learning.
- Communicate regularly with parents via email, telephone, and conferences.
- Contribute to co‑curricular programming for at least one activity per term.
- Participate in collaborative teams, committees, and fulfil supervision duties as assigned.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Science (Physics and Chemistry major or equivalent) with a Post‑Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).
- SACE registered.
- Studied Physics and Chemistry to third‑year level at university.
- Experience teaching Physical Science at secondary school (Grade 8‑12).
- Understanding of Cambridge curriculum objectives.
- Ability to lead a classroom independently.
- A passion for teaching and the success of each student.
- Knowledge of enquiry‑based, student‑centred learning.
- Deep understanding of children and the specific age group taught.
- A team player who enjoys collaborative problem‑solving.
- Proficiency in technology for instruction.
