Professional Civil Engineer

Job Description

A large contracting company with offices across South Africa is looking for a Professional Civil Engineer.

Minimum requirements:

• Minimum of 6 years’ experience in similar capacity.

• Completed Engineering Degree in Civil Engineering.

• Must be registered and active member as a Pr.Eng at ECSA (minimum requirement).

• Practical site experience of Construction sites. (Industrial, mining & commercial).

• Specific knowledge of Standards and Specifications that apply.

• Must have good knowledge of software design packages such as Prokon and working knowledge of draughting packages such as AUTOCAD and Micro Station.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carry out foundation and crane hard standing designs based on loading data provided by Manufacturers.

• Carry out site road design based on site conditions and transport requirements.

• Liaise with local authority and agree level of public road upgrades necessary.

• Carry out designs for plinths and bunds required for electrical equipment.

• Carry out design of site drainage system.

• Manage provision of geotechnical information by external consultants

• Review of trial pit information to determine ground conditions.

• Offer advice as to construction methodology based on site conditions.

• Interpret concrete test results (cube tests, slump tests etc).

• Offer support to site civil engineer’s reformation approval and construction queries.
