Estimator; Renewable Energy Projects - Construction Industry

Overview

RPO Recruitment's client, a reputable construction company in South Africa is currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator with proven experience in renewable energy projects to join their dynamic team.

The ideal candidate will play a critical role in the preconstruction phase, preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for solar and wind installations across commercial, industrial, and utility-scale markets.

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for renewable energy projects, including solar PV, wind farms, battery storage, and EV charging infrastructure
• Analyse drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labour estimates
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, procurement, and subcontractors to develop complete and competitive bids
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and evaluate project risks
• Solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations
• Maintain a database of unit costs and historical pricing for future project use
• Assist in bid reviews, proposal development, and value engineering exercises
• Monitor industry trends, construction costs, and renewable energy technology developments

• BTech/BSc degree in Quantity Surveying/Construction Management or similar
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in construction estimating work with at least 5 years’ proven experience in the renewable energy sector
• Strong understanding of renewable energy systems and components (e.g., PV modules, inverters, racking systems, wind turbines, battery storage)
• Proficiency in relevant software packages including CCS, Bluebeam, and MS Office
• Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple estimates under tight deadlines

• Salary:
  Negotiable, depending on experience and qualifications
