Job Description Purpose of the RoleWe are looking for an experienced Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Practitioner who will be required to lead and manage all environmental authorization processes for a major urban cemetery development project. The role ensures full compliance with national environmental legislation, water licensing requirements, and sustainable development principles while coordinating specialist inputs and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) studies in line with NEMA regulations.
- Prepare and submit Environmental Authorisation applications to the relevant authorities.
- Manage Water Use Licence applications in accordance with the National Water Act.
- Identify and coordinate required specialist environmental studies.
- Appoint and manage external specialists (landscape architect, geotechnical, utilities investigations).
- Conduct public participation processes across all EIA phases.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and stakeholders.
- Prepare environmental sensitivity mapping and development alternatives.
- Lead bulk water and power supply investigations and approvals.
- Identify additional environmental permits, approvals, or amendments required.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, heritage, and resource legislation.
- Ensure adherence to National Building Regulations and standards.
- Provide preliminary site designs and technical drawings.
- Deliver final reports and recommendations.
- Provide professional advisory support to stakeholders.
- Maintain independence, objectivity, and ethical compliance.

Requirements- Registered Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) or equivalent professional registration.

- Strong knowledge of NEMA, EIA Regulations, and National Water Act requirements.
- Demonstrated experience obtaining environmental authorizations and water use licences.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary specialist teams.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and public participation experience.
- Excellent technical reporting and regulatory submission skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain professional objectivity.
