Wet Services​/Fire Protection Engineer

Location: Fairland, Johannesburg, Gauteng

Position Type: Full-Time / Office-Based

Experience: 5+ Years preffered (2+ years may also be considered as Junior appointment)

We are looking for a Wet Services and/or Fire Engineer to take full ownership of projects from inception to close-out. The ideal candidate must be capable of managing technical designs, client relationships, and site-based quality control with minimal oversight.

• Rational Fire Design: Proven experience in developing Rational Fire Designs
  , utilizing performance-based fire engineering to justify deviations from standard prescriptive rules.
• Project Independence: Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring all milestones are met without the need for constant supervision.
• Mobility: Must possess a valid driver’s license and own reliable transport for frequent site inspections and technical meetings across South Africa.
• Technical Proficiency:
  * Design of hot/cold water, soil, waste systems, hot water plant calculations, backup water storage and booster pumps, fire sprinkler plant and pump hydraulics calculations.
• Fire protection systems (Active and Passive fire protection systems including fire compartments, sprinkler designs, fire hose reel and fire hydrants, Smoke Ventilation, escape routes, fire sigange, fire detection etc).
• Software:
  AutoCAD proficiency is non-negotiable with Revit (BIM) beneficial.

• B.Eng or
  
  B.Sc in Mechanical or Civil Engineering (Mandatory).
• Minimum 5 years post-graduate experience in a consulting engineering environment.
• Professional Registration (ECSA): Highly beneficial and will be reflected in the remuneration package.

• Conducting full fire and wet services site inspections and compiling condition assessment reports.
• Compiling Rational Fire Design reports and conducting approvals with Local Authorities.
• Conducting site inspections to monitor installation quality and compliance during implementation.
• Managing project budgets and timelines independently and engaging with project team.
• Liaising directly with clients, architects, and contractors as the firm's technical lead on-site.
• Managing subordinates in the office to achieve required deliverables and milestones on projects.
