ZAR 40,000 – ZAR 50,000 per month (PMP Qualified)

ZAR 50,000 – ZAR 65,000 per month (B.Eng + PMP) Cost to Company as Independent Contractor, based on experience

About the Role

Our client is an established electrical EPCM contractor operating primarily across Central and Northern Africa. The organisation specialises in the engineering and design of medium- to high-voltage substations, overhead lines, power factor correction, harmonic filtration, and emergency generation solutions.

We are seeking a driven, detail-oriented Project Manager with a self-motivated approach. A strong work ethic, integrity, and the ability to manage multiple complex projects across remote jurisdictions are essential.

This is a contract-based opportunity, and the successful candidate will be appointed as an Independent Contractor (IC).

Minimum Requirements /Qualifications
  • B.Eng or National Diploma in Electrical / Mechanical / Civil / Project Management OR PMP / CCM certification
  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant industry experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent projects (two or more simultaneously) across remote sites and different jurisdictions
  • Background in electrical infrastructure projects advantageous
  • Project‑Specific Experience
  • Hands‑on management of engineering projects from study phase and detailed design through to full turn‑key EPCM execution
  • Experience overseeing remote site operations, including virtual monitoring and managing jurisdictional variances in regulations, permits, and labour laws
  • Proven track record managing multi‑phase projects from conceptual studies to procurement, installation, commissioning, and handover
  • Exposure to international projects involving logistical complexities, customs clearance, expatriate/local workforce integration, accommodation coordination, and transport arrangements
  • Must be able to work within a mining environment
  • Must be willing to travel internationally (including Mali, Morocco, Ghana, DRC, Zambia, Mauritius)
  • Valid passport required
  • Willingness to work offshore and manage remote operations
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead overall project execution from feasibility studies through engineering/design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover in alignment with client objectives and EPCM contract terms
  • Develop and maintain integrated master project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation across multiple sites
  • Monitor remote sites and conduct periodic site visits to ensure progress reporting, issue resolution, and regulatory compliance across jurisdictions
  • Manage multidisciplinary teams across geographies, including mobilisation, performance management, and knowledge transfer
  • Oversee risk management, including mitigation of logistical and geopolitical challenges
  • Control project finances, including budgeting, forecasting, quotation approvals, invoice reviews, and reporting to management
  • Conduct progress meetings and provide structured reporting
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and HSE requirements; support audits and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Coordinate procurement processes, supplier evaluations, expediting, and due diligence inspections
  • Support business development initiatives, including tenders, feasibility studies, and future project planning
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in MS Project for scheduling, resource levelling, and progress tracking
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC)
  • Expertise in cost control, budgeting, and financial reporting
  • Understanding of procurement processes and contract management (FIDIC or similar)
  • Experience with risk assessment tools and mitigation strategies
  • Competence in Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001) and HSE frameworks (ISO 45001, OHSA)
  • Proficiency in MS Office (data analysis and reporting)
