Proposals Engineer (Electrical Automation)

Location: West Rand, Gauteng (Full-Time | On-Site)

Salary: R600,000 – R800,000 CTC per annum

A leading instrumentation and automation solutions provider is seeking an experienced Proposals Engineer to join its technical sales team. This role is ideal for an electrically qualified professional with experience in PLC, DCS and industrial automation solutions who enjoys combining technical engineering expertise with customer engagement and proposal development.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing technically sound quotations and proposals, supporting the sales team, and developing cost-effective automation solutions that meet customer requirements.

• Prepare technical proposals, quotations and tender submissions for industrial automation projects.
• Review customer RFQs and determine technical and commercial feasibility.
• Design and recommend suitable automation and control system solutions based on customer specifications.
• Develop system architectures, equipment selections and technical documentation.
• Liaise with customers to understand project requirements and provide technical guidance.
• Collaborate with engineering, workshop and procurement teams to ensure accurate costing and proposal preparation.
• Maintain tender opportunities and quotations within the CRM system.
• Source pricing and technical information from suppliers.
• Support the sales team with technical presentations, customer meetings and project discussions.
• Ensure proposals are submitted accurately and within required deadlines.
• Respond to technical and commercial customer queries throughout the proposal process.
• Assist with order handovers and provide technical support where required.

• Grade 12.
• Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Light Current) (BTech advantageous).
• Minimum 3 years' experience within industrial automation, PLC and DCS environments.
• Previous experience preparing technical quotations, tenders or proposals.
• Sales or customer-facing engineering experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Salary: R600,000 – R800,000 CTC per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
