About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Stress Analyst to join their dynamic team in Randburg. This critical hybrid role involves performing advanced structural and thermal analysis on mechanical components and systems to ensure their integrity and performance under various operating conditions. You will play a key role in validating designs through sophisticated simulation techniques, collaborating closely with design engineers and project managers.

The successful candidate will possess deep expertise in finite element analysis (FEA) and a thorough understanding of material behavior, working in an environment that combines remote analysis capabilities with essential on-site project meetings and design reviews.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive stress, strain, and fatigue analysis using FEA software.
  • Perform thermal and vibration analyses to predict component behavior under operational loads.
  • Develop and validate simulation models, ensuring accuracy and correlation with physical tests.
  • Interpret analysis results and provide actionable recommendations to the design team.
  • Collaborate with mechanical designers to optimize component designs for strength, durability, and weight.
  • Document analysis methodologies, results, and conclusions in detailed technical reports.
Requirements
  • Master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in mechanical stress analysis and FEA.
  • Expert proficiency with FEA software packages (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus, NASTRAN).
  • Strong understanding of solid mechanics, material science, and failure modes.
  • Experience with experimental validation and data analysis.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills for a hybrid setting.
