About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly diligent Process Safety Engineer to ensure the highest standards of safety within their chemical operations in Randburg . This critical role involves developing, implementing, and managing process safety programs to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations. You will conduct risk assessments, develop safety procedures, and provide expert guidance on process safety management (PSM) principles.
This position is for a dedicated safety professional committed to fostering a robust safety culture within a complex industrial setting in Randburg .
- Develop and implement comprehensive process safety management (PSM) programs, including PHA, MOC, and incident investigation.
- Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA) for new and existing processes.
- Develop and maintain safety procedures, operating manuals, and emergency response plans.
- Ensure compliance with all local and international process safety regulations and standards.
- Provide technical expertise and training on process safety principles to engineering, operations, and maintenance personnel.
- Lead and participate in incident investigations, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience focused specifically on process safety in the chemical or petrochemical industry.
- In-depth knowledge of PSM elements, hazard analysis techniques, and risk management methodologies.
- Familiarity with relevant safety regulations (e.g., OSHA PSM, Seveso Directive).
- Experience with safety software and incident reporting systems.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
