4G​/5G Wireless Network Optimization Engineer | Tangent International

Position Summary

Tangent International is urgently seeking an experienced 4G/5G Wireless Network Optimization Engineer to support a major mobile network optimization project based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The successful candidate will be responsible for LTE and 5G radio network performance optimization, KPI analysis, mobility tuning, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement of network quality, coverage, and capacity.

This role is ideally suited to experienced RAN optimization specialists with strong hands-on expertise in ZTE radio access networks and proprietary ZTE optimization tools.

As a Wireless Network Optimization Engineer, you will play a key role in enhancing network performance across LTE and 5G environments through advanced optimization activities, KPI monitoring, parameter tuning, coverage analysis, and mobility optimization.

The role requires extensive experience utilizing ZTE network performance and optimization platforms including UME, NGI, Net Max, and WNG. You will analyze network behavior, identify performance bottlenecks, implement corrective actions, and support the delivery of optimal customer experience metrics.

This assignment offers an opportunity to work with a major mobile operator environment while leveraging advanced ZTE technologies and optimization methodologies.

• Perform LTE and 5G radio network optimization activities.
• Analyze network performance KPIs and identify optimization opportunities.
• Conduct coverage, capacity, and quality optimization initiatives.
• Utilize ZTE optimization tools including UME, NGI, Net Max, and WNG.
• Analyze radio network performance trends and service quality metrics.
• Troubleshoot network degradation issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Perform root cause analysis and mitigation of network performance issues.
• Optimize mobility management and handover performance.
• Conduct parameter audits and implement optimization recommendations.
• Support feature activation, validation, and tuning activities.
• Generate optimization reports and performance improvement recommendations.
• Collaborate with planning, operations, implementation, and vendor teams.
• Ensure customer experience KPIs meet operational targets.
• Support continuous network quality improvement programs.

• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong hands-on experience in LTE and 5G Wireless Network Optimization.
• Demonstrated expertise working with ZTE RAN environments.
• Hands-on experience with proprietary ZTE tools, including:
  • UME
  • NGI
  • Net Max
  • WNG
• Strong understanding of LTE and 5G  interface technologies.
• Experience with mobility management and optimization techniques.
• Expertise in root cause analysis and network troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of Radio Access Network (RAN) principles.
• Experience performing coverage, capacity, retainability, and accessibility optimization.
• Ability to work independently in customer-facing network environments.
