About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Lead Research Scientist with a strong background in Chemical Engineering to join their dynamic R&D department in Randburg . This senior role will focus on developing and optimizing chemical processes, designing new reaction systems, and scaling up laboratory findings to pilot and production levels. You will lead a team of engineers and chemists, driving innovation and ensuring the efficiency and safety of chemical operations.
The ideal candidate possesses exceptional problem-solving skills, a deep understanding of chemical principles, and a passion for advancing chemical technology, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and scientific excellence in Randburg .
- Lead the research and development of new chemical processes and optimize existing ones for efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
- Design and conduct experiments to evaluate process parameters, material compatibility, and product yield.
- Oversee the scale-up of chemical processes from laboratory to pilot plant and potentially to commercial scale.
- Manage a team of chemical engineers and scientists, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance.
- Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in chemical process research and development.
- Strong expertise in reaction engineering, process design, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
- Experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus) is highly desirable.
- Proven leadership and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
