About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly qualified Power Systems Protection Engineer to ensure the safety, reliability, and stability of their electrical network in the Randburg area. You will be responsible for the design, application, testing, and maintenance of protective relay systems and control schemes for power substations and transmission lines. This role is critical for preventing equipment damage and maintaining continuous power supply.

• Design, configure, and commission protective relay schemes for various power system equipment, including transformers, generators, and transmission lines.
• Develop and implement testing procedures for protective relays and control systems to ensure proper operation.
• Analyze fault records and system disturbances to determine root causes and recommend improvements to protection strategies.
• Provide technical support to field operations and maintenance personnel regarding protection issues.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in power system protection technologies and standards.

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, with a specialization in Power Systems Protection.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in power system protection engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of protection principles, relay technologies (e.g., SEL, GE, ABB), and application settings.
• Experience with power system simulation software and fault analysis tools.
• Strong understanding of substation design, operations, and safety practices in Randburg .
