About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Biopharmaceutical Process Engineer to join their advanced manufacturing facility in Randburg. You will be instrumental in designing, developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting manufacturing processes for biopharmaceutical products, including biologics and vaccines. This role requires a deep understanding of upstream and downstream processing, cell culture, purification techniques, and process scale-up. You will collaborate closely with R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to ensure efficient, compliant, and high-quality production of life-saving therapies.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and optimize bioprocesses for the manufacturing of biopharmaceutical products.
- Troubleshoot and resolve process deviations and equipment issues in a timely manner.
- Develop and execute process validation protocols, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Scale-up processes from laboratory to pilot and commercial manufacturing scales.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on process transfer, facility design, and equipment selection.
- Implement process improvements to enhance yield, efficiency, and product quality.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in process development and scale-up within the biopharmaceutical industry.
- Strong knowledge of upstream (e.g., cell culture, fermentation) and downstream (e.g., chromatography, filtration) processing.
- Experience with process validation, regulatory submissions, and cGMP manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency in process modeling and simulation software is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
