Telecoms Network Engineer - Core Infrastructure

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Telecoms Network Engineer specializing in Core Infrastructure to join their technical team in Randburg. This role is essential for maintaining, optimizing, and evolving the heart of our client's network, ensuring robust and high-performance connectivity for their customer base across Gauteng and beyond. You will work with advanced technologies and play a key role in ensuring the reliability and scalability of their core network services, including IP backbone, mobile core, and transport networks.

• Design, implement, and manage core network components, including routers, switches, and servers.
• Ensure the high availability and optimal performance of the IP backbone, MPLS, and mobile core networks.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis for complex network issues.
• Develop and execute network upgrade and maintenance plans.
• Implement network security measures to protect core infrastructure.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams on capacity planning and technology roadmap development.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in telecoms core network engineering .
• In-depth knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF ), switching technologies, and MPLS .
• Experience with mobile core network elements (e.g., SGSN, GGSN, MME, SGW, PGW).
• Familiarity with network virtualization and SDN concepts is advantageous.
• Strong analytical problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
