About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Aviation Safety Officer to champion safety initiatives within their organization in Randburg . This crucial role involves developing, implementing, and overseeing the company's Safety Management System (SMS) to ensure the highest levels of safety performance and regulatory compliance. You will be responsible for risk assessment, accident/incident investigation, safety training, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout all levels of the organization.
This position requires a proactive approach to safety management and a deep understanding of aviation risks.
- Develop, implement, and maintain the company's Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard identification programs.
- Lead and manage investigations into aviation accidents, incidents, and safety occurrences, recommending corrective and preventative actions.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs to all employees, fostering a proactive safety culture.
- Monitor safety performance indicators, analyze trends, and report on safety status to senior management.
- Certified Aviation Safety Officer or equivalent qualification with substantial experience.
- In-depth knowledge of aviation safety regulations, standards, and best practices (e.g., ICAO, SA-CARS).
- Experience in developing and managing Safety Management Systems (SMS).
- Strong analytical, investigative, and reporting skills.
- Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence safety behavior across the organization in Randburg .
