Chemical Plant Engineer - Safety Focus

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Chemical Plant Engineer with a strong emphasis on safety to join their facility in Randburg . This role is crucial for ensuring the safe and compliant operation of our chemical manufacturing plants. You will be responsible for developing and implementing robust safety protocols, conducting hazard assessments, and ensuring that all engineering activities adhere to the highest safety standards.

The ideal candidate is passionate about safety culture and possesses deep technical knowledge of chemical processes and risk management.

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive process safety management (PSM) programs.
• Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and HAZOP studies for plant operations and new projects.
• Ensure compliance with all local, national, and international safety and environmental regulations.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Provide technical expertise on safety aspects of process design, equipment modification, and operational procedures.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs for plant personnel.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in chemical plant operations with a significant focus on process safety and risk management.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM principles, OSHA standards, and other relevant safety regulations.
• Experience with hazard analysis techniques (e.g., HAZOP, LOPA).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to safety issues.
