Mine Planning Engineer - Randburg

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Mine Planning Engineer to contribute to their operations, with a base in Randburg . This hybrid role involves developing short, medium, and long-term mine plans that optimize resource extraction while ensuring safety and economic viability. You will work closely with geological, survey, and operations teams to translate resource models into actionable mine designs.

The successful candidate will leverage advanced planning software and possess strong analytical and communication skills to support efficient and responsible mining activities .

• Develop integrated mine plans, including pit designs, stope layouts, and production schedules.
• Utilize mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac) to generate and optimize mine designs.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for mine development projects.
• Collaborate with geologists to interpret resource models and define mineable reserves.
• Work with operations teams to ensure plans are practical and efficiently implementable.
• Monitor mine performance against plan and revise schedules as necessary due to changing conditions.

• Degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in mine planning for open-pit or underground operations.
• Proficiency in industry-standard mine planning and design software.
• Strong understanding of mining methods, economics, and geological principles.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and spatial reasoning skills.
• Ability to contribute effectively in a hybrid work environment, coordinating with on-site and remote colleagues.
