Senior Mining Engineer - Mine Design & Planning

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mining Engineer to lead mine design and planning efforts for their operations in Randburg . This crucial role involves the development and optimization of both underground and surface mine plans, focusing on maximizing resource extraction while ensuring safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance. You will work with cutting-edge software and collaborate closely with geology, operations, and technical services teams to bring projects from concept to execution.

• Develop, implement, and manage short-term and long-term mine designs and production plans.
• Utilize advanced mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan) to optimize mine layouts, sequencing, and equipment utilization.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining projects and expansions.
• Collaborate with geological and operations teams to integrate resource models and operational constraints into mine plans.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations in mine design.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior mining engineers and technical staff.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mining Engineering.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mine design, planning, and operations.
• Expertise in industry-standard mine planning and design software.
• Strong understanding of both underground and open-pit mining methods.
