Senior Mechanical Engineer - Energy Systems

Our client, a key player in the energy sector , is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Randburg . This role is integral to the design, analysis, and implementation of mechanical systems for various energy projects, including power plants and industrial facilities. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and safety of mechanical equipment and processes.

This position requires a deep understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and material science to address the complex engineering challenges inherent in the energy industry. The role involves on-site work and close collaboration with operational and project teams.

• Design and specify mechanical equipment such as turbines, pumps, heat exchangers, and piping systems.
• Perform detailed engineering calculations, including stress analysis, thermal analysis, and fluid dynamics simulations.
• Develop technical specifications, P&IDs, and equipment datasheets.
• Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems.
• Conduct root cause analysis for mechanical failures and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure all designs and installations comply with industry codes, standards, and safety regulations.

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 9 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a significant focus on the power generation or industrial processing industries.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA.
• Expertise in mechanical design software (e.g., Solid Works, Inventor) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL).
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and material science.
• Proven experience in project execution and team leadership.
