About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join their technical services team supporting operations in and around Randburg . This role is crucial for assessing ground conditions, designing stable mine excavations, and ensuring the safety of personnel and infrastructure. You will apply advanced geotechnical principles to complex challenges in both surface and underground mining environments. Working within a collaborative team of experts, you will contribute to the successful and safe execution of mining projects, upholding the company's commitment to excellence in the mining industry .
Key Responsibilities- Conduct site investigations and analyze geological and geotechnical data.
- Design and recommend ground support systems for underground excavations and open pits.
- Perform stability analyses for slopes, open pits, and underground structures.
- Monitor ground conditions and advise on remediation measures for stability issues.
- Develop and implement geotechnical monitoring programs.
- Collaborate with mine planners, engineers, and geologists to integrate geotechnical recommendations into mine design and operations.
- MSc or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on mining applications .
- Proficiency in geotechnical analysis and modeling software (e.g., Rocscience suite, FLAC).
- Strong understanding of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, and geological principles.
- Experience with field investigations, instrumentation, and data interpretation.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly.
