Mechanical Engineer - Product Development & Innovation

Our client is looking for an innovative and proactive Mechanical Engineer to join their Product Development & Innovation team in Randburg . This hybrid role offers a dynamic blend of on-site collaboration and remote flexibility, focusing on the creation of novel products and the continuous improvement of existing ones. You will be involved in the entire product lifecycle, from ideation and concept development through to prototyping, testing, and preparing for manufacturing.

• Conceptualize, design, and develop new mechanical products and features, utilizing 3D CAD modeling software.
• Build and test prototypes, performing validation and verification to ensure design meets specifications and performance targets.
• Conduct material selection , tolerance analysis, and develop Design for Manufacturability (DFM) guidelines.
• Collaborate with industrial designers, electrical engineers, and software developers to create integrated product solutions.
• Research and evaluate emerging technologies and materials to drive innovation in product design.
• Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and manufacturing transfer packages.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 4+ years of experience in product development and mechanical design.
• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Fusion 360, Solid Works) and basic understanding of CAM.
• Experience with various prototyping techniques (e.g., 3D printing, CNC machining) and testing methodologies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a creative approach to design challenges.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, comfortable working in a hybrid environment.
