Product Development Engineer

Our client is seeking a creative and results-driven Product Development Engineer to join their team in Randburg . This role is pivotal in bringing new mechanical products from concept to market, involving design, prototyping, testing, and refinement. The position offers a hybrid work setup, enabling collaboration with colleagues on-site while maintaining some remote flexibility. You will work within a dynamic cross-functional team, contributing to the innovation pipeline and ensuring products meet market needs and quality standards.

• Lead the mechanical design and development of new products, from initial concept through to production readiness.
• Conduct feasibility studies, material selection, and component design for new product initiatives.
• Develop prototypes, conduct rigorous testing, and analyze results to validate design performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to ensure designs are optimized for mass production (DFM/DFA).
• Work with marketing and sales teams to understand customer needs and market trends.
• Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and user manuals.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in product development and mechanical design.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software and experience with simulation tools.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, machining, stamping).
• Excellent project management and problem-solving skills.
