Our client in the mining sector is recruiting for a P& / COMOS Designer with proven COMOS software experience to join their engineering team. The role focuses on developing and maintaining Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) using COMOS, as well as designing, updating, and managing technical drawings and databases across mining, minerals processing, and heavy industrial projects. The successful candidate will form part of the Project Delivery Team and work closely with process engineers, designers, and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of project deliverables.
This role requires willingness to work on site.
- Develop and maintain P&IDs using COMOS in accordance with project standards and specifications.
- Interpret process flow diagrams, engineering calculations, and design criteria to produce accurate P&IDs.
- Update P&IDs throughout the design lifecycle, incorporating changes from design reviews, HAZOPs, and client feedback.
- Ensure consistency and integrity between P&IDs and related engineering deliverables.
- Design, update, and manage technical drawings and databases.
- Work on engineering projects involving COMOS and CAD software.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of project deliverables.
- Support multidisciplinary design coordination and interface management.
- Participate in design reviews and provide input on P&-related matters.
- Maintain drawing registers, revision control, and documentation standards.
- Assist in resolving technical queries related to P&t.
3–7 years' experience as a P& within the EPCM industry.
Proven experience with COMOS software (essential).
Proven experience with CAD tools (
AutoCAD
, Solid Works
, Micro Station
, or similar).
Strong understanding of engineering and design principles.
Strong understanding of P&, standards, and drafting conventions.
Ability to interpret process and instrumentation requirements.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Ability to manage time effectively and work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Must be willing to work on site.
Exposure to multidisciplinary design coordination.
Familiarity with data-centric engineering systems.
