Purpose of the Role
To prepare the consolidated monthly management accounts, interim and annual reports for the group and its subsidiary companies and share trust. To prepare the books for the dormant and semi‑dormant entities within the group. Statutory reporting – SARS, COID and Stats SA (includes attending to queries raised). Assistance with company secretarial requirements. Review and reporting on general ledger accounts. SARS matters.
B‑BBEE. Board and Audit Committee Packs. Ad‑hoc projects and assignments.
- Finance and Planning (20%)
- Developed and Managed Budgets:
On‑time submission of operational inputs into budget as per required format and guidelines. - Proper investigation and acceptable explanation of budget variances on a monthly basis.
- Co‑ordinated and Managed Division Operational, Cashflow and Capex Budgets.
- Annual compilation of budget framework for divisions in accordance with group finance guidelines and on time distribution to divisions and branches.
- Set guidelines on optimal fund distribution / allocation in accordance with group budget constraints and strategic / operational requirements.
- Developed and Managed Budgets:
- Financial Management (45%)
- Managed Financial Accounting:
On‑time reporting. No material audit adjustments. - Accurate analysis of income and expenditure and reporting on variances.
- Year‑end and interim report process completed on time and as per group policy and procedures.
- Managed Financial Performance:
Proficient advice to the Management Team on financial matters. - Appropriate financial processes in place to support operational requirements.
- Monthly review of income and expenditure forecasts.
- Managed Financial Accounting:
- Corporate Risk Management (25%)
- Managed Risk:
Complete and on‑time audits (internal and external). - Annual revision of internal control measures to ensure good governance in compliance with Financial Policy and Delegation of Authority Framework (DAF).
- Managed Risk:
- Short Term and Credit Insurance – Ensure that all assets are properly insured in line with group policy, and that all trade debts are properly insured in line with group policy.
- Assets (5%) – Compliance with group asset management processes. Monitor updated asset register to be maintained for branches as per group Asset Management policy.

- Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Finance / Accounting.
- A minimum of 3 years' relevant financial reporting experience.
- A minimum of 3 years' articles experience at an audit firm.
- 4 years' relevant accounting experience preparing consolidated management accounts, interim and annual reports in terms of IFRS for a listed group.
- Previous management / supervisory experience in a similar role.
- Computer proficiency – MS Excel (non‑negotiable).
- Sage / Accpac working experience.
- Ability to work after hours when required in order to meet reporting deadlines.
- Own vehicle.
