Job Summary

The role of a Financial Accountant requires 3‑5 years experience in Financial Management or a Financial Controller position. The accountant will manage the financial and tax activities of the business, overseeing finance, payroll, procurement, tax and supporting administrative tasks in line with required processes, procedures, standards and legislation.

Responsibilities
  • Financial Administration
    • Timely capturing of customer invoices
    • Management of invoices and debtors
    • Creditor’s payments and reconciliation
    • Management of cashbook and reconciliation of bank transactions
    • Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
    • Processing monthly journals
    • Monthly VAT and PAYE submissions
  • Payroll Administration
    • Oversee and process internal and external payroll in accordance with South African legislation
    • Timesheet administration, tax compliance and employee query management
    • Administer employee benefits portfolio (funeral policy, medical aid, contractor savings)
    • Individual tax structuring, reimbursements, refunds and claims
  • Client Payroll & Tax
    • Manage payroll calendar for clients
    • Process tax invoices, quotes, POs and tax invoices per client agreements and rates
    • Reconciling client billable hours to client reports
  • Debtors & Creditors
    • Capturing customer invoices
    • Reconciling customer billable hours to client reports
    • Allocating customer payments to debtor accounts
    • Capturing supplier invoices and adjustments
    • Allocating supplier payments
    • Capturing sundry suppliers and saving all invoices on Sharenet
    • Upload banks and allocate bank transactions to correct expenses, customers or suppliers
    • Follow up on queries for unknown payments
  • Referral Program
    • Monitor program emails, keep payment records and maintain the database
    • Respond to referral emails daily
    • Add CV information to existing database
    • Track successful/unsuccessful referrals with recruitment team
    • Compile referral forms for payment and ensure rewards processed during payroll
  • BBBEE Administration
    • Maintain suppliers’ affidavits and preferential procurement database
    • Manage skills development portfolio and work with HR to validate training registers and payments
    • Calculate financials for verification (TMPS, Skills Development)
    • Assist in BBBEE audit/verification process
  • Enterprise & Supplier Development
    • Participate in ESD committee to manage the program and prepare agreements
    • Assist with identifying suitable NGOs, establish relationships and conduct needs analysis
    • Process payments for social economic development
  • Collaboration
    • Work closely with the Senior Accountant to develop and adhere to financial policies
    • Ensure accounting records are up to date and all reporting and reconciliation requirements are met
Qualifications
  • 3‑5 years experience in a Financial Management or Financial Controller position
  • Strong knowledge of South African financial regulations, payroll, tax and BBBEE compliance
  • Proven ability to manage financial transactions, reconciliations and reporting under tight deadlines
  • Adaptable, willing to learn and able to handle pressure in a fast‑paced environment
