Finance Controller

Overview

The Apex Group, a global leader in fund administration and middle‑office solutions, is seeking a Finance Controller to join the Johannesburg, South Africa office. The role reports to a Senior Manager within the Finance Division and serves as the legal entity controller for the Middle East.

• Oversee the timely month‑end close process for multiple legal entities, ensuring accounting aligns with group and company policies.
• Manage legal entity audits and ensure financial statements are submitted before regulatory deadlines.
• Produce statutory financial statements and regulatory reports, maintaining compliance with relevant regulatory capital requirements.
• Control payment procedures and cash management for all legal entities.
• Lead the annual budget process and liaise closely with Country Heads, the Local Managing Director, and the Accounting support for billing and FP&A teams.
• Stay current with IFRS developments that impact the firm and manage ad‑hoc requests as necessary.

• At least two years of experience in finance or accounting.
• Recognized accreditation (CA, CIMA, CPA) is preferred.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and concepts.
• Proficient with Excel, accounting systems, and general IT.
• Knowledge of IFRS and the ability to work under pressure.

• Ability to meet agreed deadlines and work on one’s own initiative.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, both verbal and written in English.

• Audit experience (not required).
• Interest in financial services, e.g., fund administration or banking.
• Creative thinker with aptitude for diagnosing problems and proposing solutions.
• Experience with accounting/financial control mechanisms and US Tax.
