Senior Manager - Private Client Tax Compliance

Description of Role:

As a senior manager you will be responsible for the overall management of the client portfolio allocated to you, including the management of the junior members allocated to you.

Key Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for the management of your client portfolio with a focus on meeting all applicable SARS tax filing deadlines, including the management of client relationships. You will further be responsible for the management of all administrative tasks such as engagement documents, billings etc in relation to your client portfolio. You will be responsible to manage the junior team members you will be working with you.

To further develop client relationships and be involved in the marketing of Private tax related products and services to existing and new clients. To be involved in internal aspects such as marketing and technical training amongst others.

- Good communication skills and able to run client meetings independently

- Be able to demonstrate excellent reporting skills, both verbally and in writing

- Have strong excel and other software skills

- Have strong ability to multi-task – must be able to handle multiple requests from various people

- Be able to work under pressure

- Be able to adhere to deadlines

- Be well organised systematic worker, attention to detail is important

- Be able to manage junior team members who work for you, including providing training

- Ability to further grow existing business

To qualify for the role, you must have:

- Have South African Individual tax compliance experience of at least 6 years

- Significant experience specializing in tax compliance and advisory for high-net worth clients.

- Manage a high-volume portfolio of clients, including High Net Worth Individuals, VIPs, Directors and C-Suite executives

- Strong technical knowledge of South African tax legislation pertaining to individuals, including tax residency matters, trusts (local and offshore) and double taxation agreements

- Advanced ability to analyze investment statements, tax returns, and complex financial instruments

- Deep understanding of tax legislation, compliance, and risk management

- Have a good understanding of South African Exchange Control Regulations and practices

- Have good understanding of SARS processes, requirements and deadlines pertaining to individual income tax as well as SARS e-filing system

- Higher Diploma in Tax and/or Hons in Tax would be an advantage

- Experience in managing a team

- Serve as the primary point of contact for complex client tax queries and escalations.
