Gap Talent is representing an established international engineering group operating within the minerals and metals sector in the appointment of a Group Financial Accountant. This role reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and offers exposure to multi-jurisdictional operations across Africa and the UK.
Role OverviewThe Group Financial Accountant will play a key role in group reporting, consolidations, audit support, cross-border accounting, and strategic financial initiatives across multiple entities, including the UK, Mauritius, Angola, and South Africa.
Key Responsibilities Accounting and Management Reporting- Capture and process transactions for UK Hold Co and OpCo on the ERP system
- Support preparation of monthly management accounts across group entities
- Maintain monthly reporting checklists for group companies
- Assist with quarterly consolidated group financial statements
- Prepare and manage purchase orders
- Manage contracted service providers and general corporate administration
- Prepare and analyse monthly cash flow reports
- Process banking transactions, including payments and purchase orders
- Support preparation of Annual Financial Statements (AFS)
- Assist with the group audit process
- Contribute to technical accounting work including restatements, consolidations, and acquisitions
- Assist with group tax and corporate compliance, including risk management and ESG compliance
- Support the South African business with audit and accounting systems processes
- Provide financial support on strategic assignments such as joint ventures and project investment analysis
- Assist with valuation models and related financial analysis
- CA(SA) with completed articles
- Post-articles commercial experience preferred
- Exposure to the mining and metals sector advantageous
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and group consolidations
- Experience in valuation modelling
- Advanced Excel capability
- Experience with cross-border financial accounting and multi-jurisdiction tax environments
- Strong analytical skills
- Self-starter with a proactive approach
- Strong communication and cross-cultural skills
- Flexible and adaptable within an entrepreneurial management structure
The role is based in Modderfontein, South Africa, with potential relocation to the UK depending on business growth.
