This position requires full-time presence at our Centurion, South Africa office.
Role: The Project Controller is responsible for providing financial oversight, control, and analysis across assigned projects to ensure accurate budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking, and reporting. This role acts as the financial partner to the project team, ensuring that all project activities are managed within approved budgets, timelines, and financial governance frameworks. The Project Controller plays a key role in safeguarding project profitability, maintaining financial integrity, and supporting effective decision-making through proactive financial insights and risk management.

QualificationsRequirements
- Essential: Diploma in Financial Management or Accounting
- Suggested: Bachelor's Degree in Financial Management or Accounting
Minimum Applicable Work Experience
- With diploma: 5-7 years
- With degree: 3-5 years
Required Nature Of Applicable Experience
- Exposure to an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and revenue recognition
- Exposure to contract-based projects (fixed price, cost-plus, milestone payments, etc.)
Computer Literacy
- MS Excel (Expert)
- MS Word (Expert)
- MS PowerPoint (Advanced)
- MS Dynamic NAV or similar ERP system
- BI tools, such as APEX BI or similar (Power BI or Tableau)
Language Proficiency
- English

Other Requirements
- Some travel may be required (supplier sites, customer sites, testing centres) depending on project scope
- Improve existing financial structures for new projects including budgets, cost centres, and billing schedules. Alternatively, establish new structures where structures are not in place yet
- Ensure alignment with internal accounting standards (IFRS) and audit requirements
- Monitor project performance against budgets (costs, revenue, margins)
- Create dashboards and financial snapshots, using Excel or BI tools, to support decision-making
- Prepare regular (weekly/monthly) project financial reports, forecasts, variance analyses, and risk reviews to be used by project department owners, project management team, finance management and other senior management
- Liaise with procurement, operations, engineering, and supply chain to validate invoices, purchase orders, and subcontractor claims
- Prepare and manage customer billing on Microsoft Dynamics NAV in line with contractual and compliance requirements
- Ensure accurate and timely revenue recognition and billing submissions
- Manage financial close-out processes ensuring all costs are captured and reconciled
- Analyse cost variances and document financial lessons learned
- Support internal and external audits of project accounts
- Recommend and implement improvements to project accounting systems and reporting tools
- Support the Financial Manager in strengthening financial governance, controls, and compliance
