The Glencore Risk Department is an independent function that controls front‑line trading. The Risk Department ensures the risk‑reward of trading books is understood by senior management and that physical exposures (e.g. oil cargoes, electricity generation, gas deliveries) are correctly valued.
This position monitors the risk embedded in the company portfolio to ensure it stays within the company’s risk appetite and reports to the Lead of the Market Risk team.
Primary Tasks &Key Responsibilities
- Conduct risk identification, assessment and monitoring on assigned portfolios
- Design risk reports to monitor key identified risks and adapt monitoring as market dynamics change
- Own the coordination, implementation, evolution and communication of risk reports
- Work collegially with the team; communicate with desks to understand positioning and market conditions
- Define and implement bespoke stress tests based on market deterioration and specific risk quantification for Senior Risk Management and Commercial teams
- Define and monitor predictive scenarios for portfolio risk to give management and desks insights as markets evolve
- Coding in Python and using data visualization tools (Tableau/Power
BI) to present metrics daily in dashboards - Undertake assessments of a wide range of transactions, carrying out modeling and analysis as necessary

Master of Science preferred (Finance/Risk Management) - Post‑graduate qualifications in Finance or Risk Management (advantageous)
- Experience in Market Risk required; commodity experience (oil and/or gas) preferable but not mandatory
- High coding skills in Python (essential)
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with good problem‑solving ability
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to challenge proposals constructively while maintaining positive relationships
- Works collegially, flexibly handling wide range of issues
- Capable of working autonomously within tight deadlines, focusing on delivering practical business benefits
