Position: Assistant Manager (Area)

Requirements

  • A Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/ degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse. Registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse and proof of current registration. A minimum of 8 years’ appropriate/ recognizable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. At least 3 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/ recognizable experience at management level.

    Diploma in Nursing Administration or Health Care Nursing Management. Computer literacy will be an added advantage.
Duties
  • Manage and coordinate Night Duty services across the institution to ensure optimal patient care. Ensure compliance with nursing standards, quality assurance programmes, and clinical governance practices. Supervise Operational Managers and Night Duty nursing teams to ensure safe staffing levels, proper allocation, and effective utilisation of human resources. Monitor patient care, clinical risks, adverse events and ensure implementation of corrective measures. Facilitate staff development, mentorship, coaching and in-service training.

    Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control (IPC) and Occupational Health & Safety standards during night operations. Compile and submit daily night duty reports, incident reports, labour relations matters, and escalations to Nursing Management. Ensure effective management of equipment, consumables and adherence to financial and supply chain management policies.
