Red Ember Recruitment is seeking, on behalf of our client, a Temp Payroll Administrator to support the payroll team based in Johannesburg, Gauteng.
The Payroll Administrator will help ensure ensure timely and accurate payroll processing for high-volume employees (3,000+ staff) and perform payroll tasks with minimal intervention from Payroll Supervisors or Managers.
Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing & Timesheets
- Process weekly registers for kiosk drivers, temps, and casual staff.
- Track and reconcile overtime, night shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Reconcile clockings against overtime sheets and submit to supervisors/divisions.
- Input payroll and HR data on Sage 300, including acting, addendums, ad hoc payments, deductions, promotions, transfers, settlements, salary adjustments, UIF, and vehicle branding.
- Use ERS Clocking system to manage employee clockings and submit weekly hours for approval.
Employee Data & HR Administration
- Load and maintain new employee records in Sage 300.
- Process internal promotions, transfers, acting roles, addendums, and personal information updates.
- Ensure payroll data accuracy and compliance with company policies and legislation.
- Process all HR-related paperwork as received, including bank changes, new staff, terminations, end-of-contracts, resignations, ad hoc payments, and vehicle branding.
Earnings, Allowances & Deductions
- Allocate vehicle branding allowances for eligible employees.
- Handle ad-hoc payments for kiosk drivers (truck/bakkie payments).
- Process employee banking detail changes.
- Manage deductions including Acknowledgements of Debt (AODs), traffic fines, kiosk errors, uniform deductions, garnishees, and maintenance orders.
Leave & Benefits Administration
- Administer annual, sick, and maternity leave queries.
- Process maternity leave applications and issue UIF documentation.
Terminations & Exits
- Process resignations, terminations, and end-of-contracts.
- Ensure all exits comply with company policies and legal requirements.
General Payroll Support & Reporting
- Serve as the primary contact for payroll queries across kiosks and branches.
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
- Conduct payroll spot checks and labour audits.
- Print payroll summaries, create sign-off sheets, and manage HR email queries (payslips, leave, UIF, etc.).
- Education:
Minimum Grade 12. - Experience:
5 years payroll experience, including at least 3 years processing payroll on Sage 300. - Technical
Skills:
Proficient in ERS Clocking System and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP). - Core Competencies:
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in payroll processing; excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Organisational
Skills:
Effective planning, time management, and organisational abilities. - Personal Attributes:
Dependable, flexible, punctual, and able to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
Technical
Skills:
Proficient in ERS Clocking System and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
