Senior Network Engineer; DC

Network Engineer in Johannesburg. This isn’t just about keeping the lights on — it’s about building and maintaining next-gen network infrastructure that drives innovation, resilience, and scalability. You’ll play a key role in designing, implementing, and optimizing network systems while ensuring security and reliability for business-critical operations. With your strong technical foundation, 5+ years of network engineering experience (at least 2 in a specialist role), and deep knowledge of Cisco, ACI, and related technologies, you’ll be part of a team shaping the future of digital connectivity.

DUTIES:

• Network Design & Implementation – Architect and deploy robust networking solutions that meet performance, security, and scalability requirements.
• Maintenance & Optimization – Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure continuous uptime.
• Security Management – Implement and manage firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection, and other security protocols.
• Project Leadership – Lead end-to-end network projects from planning to delivery, managing timelines and resources.
• Capacity Planning – Analyze growth trends to anticipate future requirements and scale infrastructure.
• Mentorship – Support and guide junior engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
• Vendor & Stakeholder Management – Collaborate with vendors and negotiate for hardware/software solutions aligned with business goals.
• Documentation & Compliance – Maintain accurate documentation and ensure alignment with regulatory and audit requirements.

REQUIREMENTS:

• 3-year Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in network engineering, with at least 2 years in a specialist capacity.
• Proven expertise in Cisco ACI design, configuration, and troubleshooting (multi-pod fabric, APIC management, firmware upgrades).
• Strong experience with C#, ASP.NET, SQL, and automation tools to enhance efficiency.
• Ability to troubleshoot and deploy VxLAN networks.
• Experience supporting large-scale data centres and complex enterprise networking environments.

CERTIFICATIONS (advantageous):

• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or CCIE.
• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
• Cisco Certified Design Expert (CCDE).
• VMware VCP-NV or VCAP-NV Design.
• Aruba ACMX / Certified Wireless Design Professional (CWDP).
• CompTIA Network+.
• Certified Network Defender (CND).
