Integration Analyst

Overview

Remote role. We are seeking a Technical Payments Integration Analyst to conduct a short-term discovery and feasibility assessment for a payments solution that is being built. The successful candidate will be responsible for analysing and documenting the technical requirements, integration approaches, and complexity of integrating a mobile money platform and payment service providers. The output of this engagement will be a detailed technical integration report to guide subsequent solution architecture and development.

This is a hands-off technical analysis role — not a software development position — requiring strong payments domain knowledge, API integration understanding, and the ability to operate independently.

• Assess integration with mobile money platforms
• Analyse integration options with Local Payment Service Providers (PSPs) and direct bank integrations (where applicable)
• Evaluate both Customer payment (pay-in) flows and Merchant payment / settlement (pay-out) flows
• Identify technical, operational, and regulatory considerations impacting integration

• Perform technical discovery of mobile money and PSP integration capabilities
• Review and analyse available API documentation and technical specifications
• Map end-to-end payment flows, including Customer initiation, Transaction processing, Settlement and reconciliation, and Error handling and reversals
• Assess authentication, security, and compliance requirements
• Identify integration risks, dependencies, and constraints
• Compare alternative integration approaches (direct vs PSP-mediated)
• Produce a comprehensive technical integration report including:
  Recommended architecture options, Integration patterns, API and security requirements, Regulatory and compliance considerations, and Estimated implementation complexity

• Proven experience in payments systems, fintech, or mobile money platforms
• Hands-on exposure to mobile money ecosystems (e.g. MTN MoMo, Airtel Money, M-Pesa, or similar)
• Experience working with Payment Service Providers (PSPs) or payment gateways
• Understanding of merchant acquiring, settlement, and payout processes

• Strong understanding of API-based integrations (REST, webhooks, authentication models)
• Ability to analyse and document:
  Transaction lifecycle flows, Error handling and retry mechanisms, Reconciliation and settlement processes
• Comfortable translating technical complexity into clear, structured documentation

• Familiarity with KYC / AML considerations in payment systems
• Understanding of regulatory requirements in financial services, ideally in African or emerging markets
• Ability to identify and flag compliance risks early in the solution design

• Prior experience working on payments solutions in Africa
• Exposure to telco-led financial services
• Pre-sales or solution discovery experience
• Ability to produce high-level architecture or payment flow diagrams
