Tiko is an African nonprofit committed to strengthening the potential and resilience of adolescent girls across Africa. We address the “Triple Threat” of unintended pregnancy, HIV infection, and sexual and gender-based violence by building local health ecosystems that provide stigma-free, no-cost, quality-assured services.
Our model brings together key local actors: community-based organizations (CBO) with peer mobilisers who act as health companions to girls; public and private health clinics that deliver care; and retail partners that redeem Tiko Miles
-our behaviour-change incentive programme that rewards service uptake and feedback.
We invest in partners by strengthening CBO capacity, training frontline workers and providers, supporting clinic quality improvement, and compensating partners based on performance. Our technology platform connects all actors by enabling referrals, verifying service delivery, facilitating payments, and generating real-time data.
Tiko operates in seven countries:

In Ethiopia, our impact is driven by a team of nearly 20 professionals, based in our Addis Ababa office or working remotely within the city. We are dedicated to implementing our projects in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH) and other key partners to deliver essential triple threat services.
For this position, we are happily looking for candidates currently based in South Africa, Uganda, Kenya, or Ethiopia.
The JobWe are seeking an experienced Director of Risk Strategy to design, implement, and continuously strengthen enterprise-wide risk management across Tiko’s digital ecosystem. This is a critical senior leadership role responsible for embedding technology-first risk governance, automating preventative controls, and ensuring the organisation scales with integrity, compliance, platform reliability, and verified results.
You will lead an end-to-end digital risk strategy spanning enterprise risk, technology and data risk, digital identity systems, automated fraud detection, audit and assurance, and operational risk. The role requires deep collaboration with executive leadership, product, engineering, finance, country teams, and machine learning specialists to design out risk, detect issues early, and deploy rapid, technology-enabled mitigation.
Key responsibilities include:Enterprise Technology Risk & Strategy
- Lead a technology-first Enterprise Risk Management strategy across platforms, partners, markets, and user groups.
- Own and maintain the organisational risk register, ensuring accurate and up-to-date enterprise risk documentation.
- Define and drive a Risk Automation Roadmap, embedding automated controls, biometric verification, and digital identity assurance into product and operational workflows.
- Provide the Executive team with predictive, data-driven risk insights derived from analytics and automated risk signals.
- Integrate risk strategy into platform architecture, data pipelines, AI models, and claims or reimbursement workflows.
- Champion a prevent-by-design approach, embedding risk prevention mechanisms directly into technology systems.
- Ensure automated preventative controls such as biometric validation, geolocation rules, eligibility checks, and abnormal claim detection are integrated into feature design.
- Drive the adoption of self-correcting and continuously improving control mechanisms.
