Job Title: OSS Maintenance Engineer - Outsourced

Location:
Johannesburg

Initial Contract Period: 3 months

• System Operations & NE Integration:
  Maintain and configure ZTE OSS platforms (e.g., UME/UFM). Manage the lifecycle of Network Elements (NE) within OSS, including entry, synchronization, and data consistency between OSS and live network.
• Health Check & Maintenance:
  Perform regular health checks, patch management, and database backups for OSS servers (Linux environment) to ensure 24/7 platform availability.
• Customized Report Development:
  Utilize Python for automated data extraction and Power BI to design interactive dashboards for KPI performance, alarm trends, and ticketing efficiency reporting.
• Network Connectivity Management:
  Apply CCNA-level networking skills to manage DCN (Data Communication Network) connectivity; troubleshoot communication issues between OSS and NEs (e.g., routing issues, SNMP failures).
• Configuration & Policy Management:
  Configure alarm filtering rules, performance thresholds, and ticket auto-dispatching logic within the OSS to optimize NOC efficiency.

• 3+ years of experience in telecommunications or IT operations and maintenance, with a background in maintaining or integrating large-scale network management systems.
• Proficient in mainstream Unix/Linux operating systems (such as Red Hat, SUSE), with the ability to install, configure, manage, back up and restore, monitor logs, and diagnose problems.
• Proficient in daily operations of databases such as MySQL. Able to independently create scripts for adding, deleting, modifying, and querying data.
• Familiar with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Basic understanding of wireless networks, core networks, and telecom clouds; experience in operations and maintenance and specialized network knowledge are preferred.
• Proficient in using Python for data processing, or with experience in Power BI/Tableau report development.
• Solid foundation in data communication; familiar with TCP/IP protocols, VLANs, static routing, and common network troubleshooting tools (Ping, Tracert, Telnet).
• Familiarity with ZTE UME/UFM or similar mainstream vendor network management architectures is preferred.
• Fluent in English, with excellent interpersonal communication skills (both written and oral), and a team player.
• Education:
  
  Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Telecommunications.

• Data Analytics certification (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst).
• CCNA (or equivalent networking certification).
