Our client based in Isando is looking for a Senior Manager:
Applications with 10+ years’ experience in application development, management, or support roles. 5+ years’ leadership experience managing cross-functional application delivery teams. Must have experience in full lifecycle implementations for small to medium-sized projects.
Purpose of the Role:
The Senior Manager:
Applications is responsible for leading, developing, and maintaining the suite of applications and platforms that support the company’s rental and sales operations. The role ensures application stability, governance, and compliance while enabling continuous improvement and digital transformation. The position balances RUN (operational stability and support), GROW (enhancements and optimisation), and TRANSFORM (innovation and platform modernisation) objectives. It provides leadership to development, analysis, and
support teams, ensuring applications meet business requirements, integrate seamlessly across systems, and deliver
measurable value. The role is responsible for continually focusing on eliminating waste and delays, creating a culture of relentless
improvement, and providing an environment conducive to business continuity. The role also supports system rationalisation and the successful delivery of business-critical projects aligned with strategic objectives.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Matric plus NQF Level 7 Qualification in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Relevant certification in software development or application management
- Agile, SAFe, or Scrum certification
- Certification in ITIL Service Management
- Cloud certification (e.g., Azure, AWS, Salesforce)
- 10+ years’ experience in application development, management, or support roles
- 5+ years’ leadership experience managing cross-functional application delivery teams
- Strong knowledge of system integration, application governance, and service management
- Experience in managing hybrid on-premises and cloud-based application environments Proven experience or exposure to system design, development, implementation, software applications and interfaces, production operations, quality assurance and systems management, etc.
- Demonstrable experience in full lifecycle implementations for small to medium-sized projects
- Experience in the automotive, mobility, or financial services industry
- Proven software and product development experience
- Experience in rental management systems, CRM, or omnichannel sales applications
- Exposure to microservices, APIs, and containerised environments
- Exposure to platform modernisation, system rationalisation, and data-driven platforms
Application Delivery and Management:
- Lead the lifecycle management of rental and sales applications
- Ensure applications are stable, secure, and compliant with governance standards
- Oversee deployments, integrations, and upgrades with minimal business disruption
- Ensure uptime, reliability, and service continuity of critical systems
- Establish KPIs, SLAs, and quality standards for service delivery

Maintain system availability and resolve incidents - GROW:
Deliver enhancements and optimise systems for business performance - TRANSFORM:
Drive innovation, modernisation, and digital transformation projects
- Oversee application-related projects, ensuring timely delivery and business alignment
- Align project delivery with enterprise architecture and IT strategy
- Contribute to the enterprise IT roadmap for platform rationalisation and modernisation
- Manage resources and programme dependencies
- Act as the primary liaison for rental and sales
- Translate business needs into application requirements and delivery roadmaps
- Communicate risks, delivery progress, and value outcomes to stakeholders effectively
- Ensure compliance with IT governance, security, and regulatory frameworks
- Manage application risk, technical debt, and system dependencies
- Establish and monitor KPIs, SLAs, and continuous improvement processes
- Foster a culture of experimentation, innovation, and agile delivery
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of developers, analysts, and administrators
- Build technical and functional expertise within the applications team
- Manage performance, succession planning, and career pathways
- Support and encourage direct reports to drive their development plans to further grow as professionals in their jobs
- Provide clear direction to direct reports
