AWS DevOps Engineer

Amidel is an Information Technology and Business Consulting Company that provides highly specialised solutions to large and small enterprises in both the private and public sectors. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Intermediate/Senior AWS Dev Ops Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud infrastructure, automation, CI/CD pipeline implementation, and infrastructure as code (IaC).

This role offers a dynamic opportunity to work with leading financial institutions and enterprise clients, building and maintaining highly available, scalable, and secure cloud environments on AWS. The candidate should hold the AWS Certified Dev Ops Engineer – Professional certification or be working towards it.

Cloud Engineering / Dev Ops / Infrastructure / Automation

• 5 Years in Dev Ops or Cloud Infrastructure Engineering
• 3 Years with AWS Dev Ops Tooling and Cloud Automation

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Advantageous: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or Dev Ops Engineer Professional

Responsibilities differ across client engagements but may include:

• Designing and building scalable and resilient infrastructure solutions using AWS services and infrastructure as code (e.g. Cloud Formation, Terraform)
• Implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools like AWS Code Pipeline, Jenkins, Git Lab CI/CD, or Git Hub Actions
• Automating deployment and configuration processes using scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Power Shell
• Managing containerized environments with Docker and orchestration tools like ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes
• Monitoring application performance and system health with tools such as Cloud Watch, Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog
• Working closely with development and security teams to embed Dev Sec Ops  best practices in the SDLC.
• Maintaining and improving backup, disaster recovery, and high availability strategies for critical workloads
• Integrating and managing configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
• Troubleshooting infrastructure, networking, and deployment issues across various environments
• Enforcing tagging standards, cost optimization strategies, and resource governance across AWS accounts
• Managing networking components such as VPCs, subnets, security groups, and route tables
• Supporting automation of compliance and governance controls aligned with frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, or POPIA.

• In-depth experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, Cloud Formation, VPC, and IAM
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipeline design, source control (Git), and release management best practices
• Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash, Power Shell) and automation frameworks
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, EKS)
• Solid grasp of networking fundamentals, including VPNs, NAT gateways, load balancers, and routing
• Experience with infrastructure monitoring, logging, and alerting tools.
• Knowledge of security best practices, including secrets management, patch management, and encryption
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in complex, distributed systems.
• Experience working in Agile or Dev Ops-driven environments.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with cost optimization and cloud financial management is advantageous.
• AWS Dev Ops Engineer – Professional certification is highly preferred.
