Job DescriptionNNW Tech Solutions is seeking a dedicated Support Engineer to join a leading wealth and asset management company in Sandton, Johannesburg. This role is for a proactive and self-starting individual who will be responsible for managing incidents and driving continuous improvement for the Intermediary Business within ICIB tech.
About the Opportunity:
You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of production systems, focusing on Java-based applications. This position requires a collaborative approach, working closely with development, operations, and QA teams to implement best practices in change management and incident resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for production systems, specifically for Java-based applications.
- Monitor application health and performance using observability tools and logs.
- Investigate and resolve incidents within agreed SLA timelines.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement preventative measures.
- Coordinate with development teams to deploy fixes and improvements.
- Create and maintain essential support documentation and operational runbooks.
- Support releases, patching, and change management processes.
- Ensure adherence to security and compliance standards in all support activities.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding incident updates and risks.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call support rotation if required.
Education:
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
- Experience:
Strong hands-on experience with Java (Java 8 or higher). - Frameworks:
Familiarity with Spring, Spring Boot, and other related Java frameworks. - API Knowledge:
Understanding of REST APIs and service integration. - Troubleshooting:
Proficient in troubleshooting and analysing logs using tools like Kibana or Splunk. - Databases:
Experience with SQL and relational databases (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL). - Command Line:
Basic knowledge of Linux/Unix command-line tools. - Version Control:
Familiarity with version control systems such as Git. - Methodologies:
Understanding of change management and incident management principles. - ITIL certification or experience with ITIL processes.
- Experience in Agile methodologies and practices.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, ELK Stack).
- Exposure to financial services or investment banking systems.
- Experience with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
