Expert: AI Product & Value

Position Summary:

MoMo from MTN is actively seeking an exceptional, commercially minded, and visionary Expert: AI Product & Value with extensive experience in artificial intelligence, product management, data strategy, and fintech to join our newly established AI capability team within MTN Group Fintech in the City of Johannesburg on a hybrid work mode basis. In this critical intersectional role bridging AI, product, data, technology, and business, you will be responsible for defining use cases, translating real business problems into high-impact AI products, collaborating directly with engineers and business leaders, and proving the tangible value that artificial intelligence delivers across one of Africa’s largest fintech ecosystems.

You will leverage your deep practical expertise in AI product management, data analytics, value realization, and cross-functional leadership to shape the future of fintech innovation in Africa.

As an Expert: AI Product & Value supporting MTN Group Fintech in Johannesburg via MoMo from MTN, you will take full product and strategic ownership of turning AI potential into measurable business value. Your day-to-day responsibilities include identifying key business challenges, conceptualizing innovative AI products, partnering closely with software engineers, data scientists, and business leaders, and driving end-to-end product life cycles from ideation to production deployment.

You will design robust value-tracking frameworks to prove the economic impact of artificial intelligence, challenge technical assumptions, and ensure alignment with corporate data strategy. Furthermore, you will collaborate with Norika Mahass (Group Head : Data & AI : MTN MoMo) and executive stakeholders to scale AI capabilities across MTN’s regional fintech ecosystems.

• Spearhead the identification, conceptualization, and delivery of innovative AI products within the MTN Group Fintech ecosystem.
• Bridge artificial intelligence, product management, data analytics, and commercial business objectives to define high-impact use cases.
• Partner directly with software engineers, data scientists, and business leaders to translate complex business problems into AI solutions.
• Design, implement, and monitor robust value realization frameworks to prove the tangible business impact and ROI of deployed AI models.
• Drive end-to-end AI product life cycles from exploratory ideation, prototyping, and validation through to production scaling.
• Challenge technical architecture and product assumptions to ensure solutions are scalable, commercially viable, and user-centric.
• Collaborate with cross-functional data and AI leadership to shape regional data strategies and analytics roadmaps across Africa.
• Evangelize the responsible and impactful use of artificial intelligence and advanced analytics across MTN fintech business units.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 to 10+ years of professional experience spanning product management, artificial intelligence, data strategy, or fintech.
• Proven track record of taking AI and data-driven products from conception through to measurable commercial success.
• Exceptional commercial acumen with a demonstrated ability to connect complex technology solutions with meaningful business outcomes.
• Deep practical familiarity with AI product life cycles, machine learning use cases, data analytics, and value tracking.
