Devops Engineer

Blue Pearl is seeking a skilled and hands-on Dev Ops Engineer to support our technology environment on a part-time, fully remote basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for improving and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, deployment processes, monitoring, automation, security, and overall system reliability. This role is suited to a Dev Ops professional who can work independently, troubleshoot effectively, and support development teams in delivering secure and reliable applications.

• Design, build, maintain and optimise CI/CD pipelines
  .
• Automate application build, testing and deployment processes.
• Manage source-code and version-control workflows using Git/Git Hub/Git Lab/Bitbucket
  .
• Implement automated testing and deployment practices.
• Troubleshoot pipeline failures and deployment issues.
• Improve deployment speed, reliability and consistency.
• Deploy, configure and maintain cloud infrastructure.
• Work with platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Manage cloud resources, environments and configurations.
• Support infrastructure scalability, availability and performance.
• Implement infrastructure monitoring and cost-conscious resource management.

• Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using tools such as:
  • Terraform
  • Ansible
  • Cloud Formation
• Automate repetitive infrastructure and operational tasks.
• Maintain configuration management and environment consistency.

• Build and manage containerised applications using Docker
  .
• Support container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes
  .
• Troubleshoot container, networking and deployment issues.
• Assist with maintaining development, staging and production environments.

• Implement and maintain system monitoring, logging and alerting.
• Monitor application and infrastructure performance.
• Identify and resolve availability, performance and reliability issues.
• Participate in incident investigation and root-cause analysis.
• Assist with backup, disaster recovery and business continuity processes.

• Apply Dev Sec Ops  principles throughout development and deployment processes.
• Implement secure access controls and secrets management.
• Support vulnerability management and patching.
• Ensure infrastructure and deployment processes follow security best practices.
• Assist with maintaining secure cloud and application environments.
• Work closely with developers, software engineers and technical stakeholders.
• Support development teams with deployment and infrastructure requirements.
• Document infrastructure, deployment procedures and technical processes.
• Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support where required.
• Participate in remote technical meetings and project discussions.

• Diploma, Degree or relevant qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field

• 3+ years' experience in Dev Ops, Cloud Engineering, Systems Engineering, Infrastructure or a related technical role.
• Practical experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience working with cloud environments.
• Strong Linux and scripting knowledge.
• Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes.
• Experience with Git-based development workflows.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

• Terraform certification.
• Experience with Dev Sec Ops .
• Experience with microservices and API-based architectures.
• Experience supporting production environments.
• Experience with automated testing and deployment.
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments.
