About our companyIntroduction
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Production Assembly Operator to join our Production team. This is a critical hands-on role where precision, technical expertise, and process discipline directly contribute to product excellence and customer satisfaction. As a Production Assembly Operator, you will be responsible for the assembly and soldering of high-quality electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies in a controlled manufacturing environment, ensuring compliance with stringent quality standards and production schedules.
Assembly & Soldering:
- Assemble electronic components including Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), cable and wire harnesses, and RF assemblies
- Perform hand soldering and rework to IPC J-STD-001 standards
- Execute assembly tasks in strict accordance with engineering documentation and assembly instructions
- Operate precision assembly equipment including soldering stations, hot‑air rework tools, torque drivers, crimping tools, and microscopes
Quality & Compliance:
- Maintain exceptional attention to detail and strict process adherence
- Ensure right‑first‑time build quality and full product traceability
- Adhere to ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) control procedures at all times
- Maintain documentation for production process purposes
- Follow safety protocols including appropriate use of PPE and ESD‑safe tools
- Participate in Lean manufacturing initiatives and Kaizen activities
- Support process improvements to enhance yield, reliability, and cycle time
- Engage in cross‑training across assembly cells as required
- Maintain clean, organized work areas in line with 5S standards
Qualifications:
- IPC J-STD-001 certification/qualification
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years' practical experience in a production/manufacturing environment
- Minimum 2 years' hands‑on experience using microscopes for assembly work
- Proven experience in mechanical and electrical assembly of electronic sub‑systems
- Experience in regulated manufacturing environments will be advantageous
- Exposure to defence‑related products and workmanship standards advantageous
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting assembly drawings and technical instructions
- Expertise in wiring, soldering, and IPC workmanship standards
- Ability to identify assembly issues (process, mechanical, documentation‑related)
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Excellent hand‑eye coordination and practical handwork skills
- Basic computer skills advantageous
- Knowledge of production processes and quality control principles
