Security Systems Technician

Summary

Security system installer is required for positions in the Norwood, Orange Grove, and Houghton areas.

• Must have a sound knowledge of the installation, repairs and maintenance of electric fences, Gate Motors, Garage Motors, Intercoms, CCTV systems and Alarm Systems.
• Visit customers' homes or business properties to assess security risks and provide advice on different types of alarms and other security devices.
• Design suitable security systems tailored to each customer's needs and provide cost estimates for the proposed solutions.
• Install devices throughout buildings by following a comprehensive plan and connect the components to a central control panel using cables.
• Install wire-free radio system links, infra-red devices, or fibre optic technology as required by the security plan.
• Use power tools to drill holes, lift floorboards, and follow wiring diagrams for laying cables efficiently and safely.
• Repair any damaged plaster or woodwork that may occur during installation and ensure the area is left tidy upon completion.
• Test the newly installed system thoroughly and explain its operation to the customer.
• Conduct regular checks and servicing on existing security systems to ensure ongoing reliability.
• Respond promptly to call-outs for system faults and carry out necessary repairs.

• At least five years of experience in security systems or a related field.
• Previous experience working with security systems and equipment.
• Comprehensive knowledge of security protocols and procedures.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Relevant working experience with insurance companies.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.
• Electrical experience.

The expected salary ranges from R7, to R9, per month, depending on experience.
