Back-End Developer - Platform Systems

What You'll be Doing

• Integrate into the team quickly, deploy often and early
• Manage, launch existing and new applications
• Resolve bugs, provide a high level of support to end users and integrated system stakeholders
• Write short specs, own end-to-end development from scoping to testing
• Write unit tests for the new code that you craft, improve test coverage, follow development standards
• Ensure your code is designed with maintainability in mind
• Work with other software teams to improve system communications and performance
• Participate in design and regular code reviews; helping your colleagues do their best
• Explore and review new technologies, for improvement opportunities

Desired Skills and Experience

• 3+ years of Python experience;
  Django is a plus.
• We also write Go, but that’s not expected of you.
• Comfort navigating the command line, especially with git
• Strong and demonstrated data modelling experience with attention to detail
• SQL familiarity; you can hand code moderately complex SQL queries, but only when needed
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
• Ability to write documentation clearly and concisely, and to communicate well with non-technical stakeholders
• Experience crafting or working closely with Web/REST/Graph
  
  QL APIs
• Understanding of common application stacks (nginx, uwsgi, etc.)
• Knowledge of web standards; excitement about new technologies
