Solutions Architect; Java

We are seeking an experienced Senior Solution Architect to join a leading banking environment on a 12-month contract.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing overall application systems design, balancing business requirements against resource utilisation and architectural considerations, while ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives. This role requires a strong technical architecture background combined with hands‑on Java expertise.

• Define and deliver end‑to‑end solution architectures for enterprise applications.
• Translate business requirements into scalable and sustainable technology solutions.
• Ensure architectural alignment with business strategy and technology standards.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams.
• Drive architecture governance, design reviews, and solution assurance activities.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, project teams, and technical specialists.
• Identify and mitigate architectural risks across initiatives.
• Support the delivery of complex digital transformation and modernization programs.

• Proven experience as a Solution Architect within large enterprise environments.
• Strong Java backend development experience.
• Advanced knowledge of Java, J2EE, and Spring Boot.
• Experience designing distributed and enterprise-scale applications.
• Strong understanding of application integration and API‑based architecture.
• Experience with microservices architecture patterns.
• Solid understanding of software engineering best practices.
• Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Financial services or banking experience is highly advantageous.
