Tradition is currently seeking to appoint a Software Developer to be based in our Johannesburg office.
Main responsibilities- Contributing to the development of a real‑time financial derivative pricing platform
- Building and maintaining software components across the application stack
- Working with experienced engineers to design, develop, test, and deploy new features
- Learning how complex pricing and market data models are translated into software solutions
- Writing clean, maintainable, and well‑tested code
- Participating in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and technical discussions
- Supporting the monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of applications
- Using modern development tools, including AI‑assisted engineering tools, to improve productivity and code quality
- Collaborating with product owners, business analysts, and subject matter experts to understand requirements and deliver solutions
- A minimum of 3 years of software development experience
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience)
- Knowledge of at least one programming language such as Go, C++, Rust, Java, Python, or C#
- Understanding of software development fundamentals including object‑oriented programming, testing, and version control
- Interest in distributed systems, data processing, and high‑performance applications
- Strong problem‑solving skills and willingness to learn
- Good communication and collaboration skills
- Enthusiasm for working in a fast‑paced engineering environment
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS through academic, personal, or professional projects
- Familiarity with databases, APIs, and modern software development tools
- Interest in financial markets, trading systems, or data‑intensive applications
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, or container technologies such as Docker
- Use of AI‑assisted development tools for coding, testing, or learning
