AI Engineer

Location: Gauteng, Johannesburg

The AI Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing artificial intelligence solutions to support banking and finance operations. This role involves creating scalable AI models and algorithms that enhance business processes, improve customer experience, and ensure compliance with industry regulations. The successful candidate works closely with cross-functional teams to understand complex business requirements and translate these into effective AI-driven applications.

• The team is expected to act as a Copilot Enablement Squad that will work directly with Relationship Managers to:
• Introduce them to Microsoft Copilot capabilities.
• Identify personal productivity use cases.
• Configure and demonstrate personal Copilot agents.
• Improve AI adoption and awareness.
• Capture common use cases that could be standardized across multiple RMs.
• Establish what is possible within Standard Bank's current Copilot licensing and governance constraints.

Personal Productivity Enablement

• Each RM should leave the engagement with at least one useful Copilot capability that improves their daily work. Examples discussed include:
• Daily email summaries
• Action tracking from emails
• Planning the day
• Executive briefings
• Personal productivity assistants
• Work review and quality checking agents
• The emphasis is on practical productivity improvements rather than enterprise-scale solutions.

• The team must:
• Show what Copilot can do.
• Explain limitations.
• Teach effective prompting.
• Demonstrate best practices.
• Help users understand where AI adds value.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
