Senior Backend Developer

The Opportunity

We are looking to speak with experienced Backend Developers with strong .NET expertise to join a growing technology environment. The role will focus on designing and developing scalable backend services, APIs and database solutions, while working closely with other technical teams to deliver robust applications.

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs using .NET Core
  , with a focus on Web API and Worker Services
  .
• Design, optimise and maintain SQL Server databases, with a focus on performance, scalability and reliability.
• Develop and implement effective database design, query optimisation and indexing strategies
  .
• Implement and manage distributed caching solutions to improve application performance and scalability.
• Work closely with frontend developers and other technical stakeholders to ensure effective integration between backend services and applications.
• Troubleshoot, optimise and continuously improve existing systems and services.

• Strong commercial experience developing backend applications using .NET Core
  .
• Proven experience building RESTful APIs and background services using Worker Services
  .
• Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, dependency injection and middleware
  .
• Experience designing scalable and maintainable backend architectures.

• Strong experience with SQL Server
  , including database schema design and optimisation.
• Proven ability to optimise queries and troubleshoot database performance issues.
• Experience with indexing, stored procedures, views and complex joins
  .
• Strong understanding of database performance and scalability.

• Hands-on experience implementing caching strategies within backend applications.
• Understanding of how distributed caching can be used to reduce latency and improve application performance.

• Experience integrating backend services with JavaScript-based frontend applications
  .
• Ability to troubleshoot and support issues relating to API consumption and backend/frontend integration.

Experience with any of the following would be beneficial:

• Elasticsearch – search functionality, indexing and analytics.
• Redis – distributed caching, session management and/or pub/sub messaging.
• RabbitMQ – message queuing, asynchronous processing and event-driven architectures.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on Backend Developer who is comfortable working across .NET Core, APIs and SQL Server
, with a strong understanding of performance, scalability and backend architecture. Experience with distributed systems, caching and messaging technologies would be advantageous.
