The Transport Controller’s primary purpose is to assist and support the logistics organization of the Gauteng Transport Department operations, ensuring smooth operation and that the requirements of Transport Department clients are met.

Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day transport service requirements.
  • Dispatch and debrief drivers.
  • Prepare daily tracking reports and updates.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for drivers.
  • Ensure highest possible customer service levels.
  • Ensure fleet is roadworthy and conforms to company branding and cleanliness policies.
  • Oversee truck drivers and guide adherence to procedures.
  • Liaise with management regarding any driver-related issues.
  • Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
  • Capture incident reports and distribute them promptly to all stakeholders.
  • Capture and report truck faults and breakdowns promptly.
  • Complete accessories (cell phones and tags) forms and issue paperwork.
  • Conduct monthly cell and accessories audits and reports.
  • Submit daily check sheets to administrators.
  • Book appointments for drivers for medicals and HR meetings.
  • Order and issue PPE for existing drivers.
  • Conduct truck and equipment audits.
Qualifying Experience
  • Minimum Grade 12 certificate.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of fleet controlling experience.
  • Proven knowledge in working with fleet tracking systems.
  • Computer literate – MS Office, internet and e‑mail.
  • Transport Management qualification is advantageous.
  • Geographical knowledge of Gauteng and surrounding areas.
  • Ability to speak multiple African languages is advantageous.
